Before you commission an audit, it helps to understand what happens at each stage. Our process is designed for holders who want thorough documentation without surrendering control of their keys.

Overview

  1. Initial inquiry. You describe your holdings in general terms — number of devices, approximate address count, whether backups exist. We respond with a scope document and fee estimate within two business days.
  2. Scope agreement. You review and sign the engagement letter. It specifies what we will and will not access, confidentiality terms, and delivery timeline. A 40% deposit confirms your audit date.
  3. Pre-audit questionnaire. You complete a written inventory template listing known devices, backup locations, and exchange accounts used for withdrawals. This becomes our working checklist.
  4. On-site or remote session. An auditor verifies each physical device, records serial numbers and firmware versions, and observes backup materials without copying seed phrases. Remote sessions require a secure video setup you approve in advance.
  5. Address reconciliation. Using information you provide, we match derived addresses to your records and flag discrepancies. We never ask you to reveal seed phrases on camera or in writing.
  6. Draft review. You receive a draft report and have 48 hours to note corrections. Factual errors are amended at no charge.
  7. Final delivery. Bound paper report and encrypted PDF are delivered. Working notes are destroyed unless you request archival copies under separate agreement.

What to prepare

Gather all hardware wallets, air-gapped computers used for signing, and backup materials you are comfortable presenting. Have exchange withdrawal records or personal ledgers available. Clear a private workspace where devices can be examined without interruption.

Timeline expectations

A standard full audit completes in seven to ten business days from the first on-site session. Complex estates or holdings exceeding thirty addresses may require three weeks. We never compress reconciliation steps to meet arbitrary deadlines.
